Anti- security at malls!

Does it bother anyone, other than me, how the security personnel at the malls go through your bags ? I mean, it's one thing that we're probably the only country in the world where a shopping mall is treated , with regards to security regulations, as an airport; with the dogs sniffing around your car before you enter the parking lot, metal detector gates that you pass through, machines to monitor your bags/purse at every entry..etc. It's completely another thing that although they have those huge complex machines which you put your bag on to be monitored, they never use them, and instead they have some girl in a security uniform, who is totally ignorant about everything in life , let alone items that breach security, go through my handbag watching my purse, makeup, USB stick, laptop..etc. I find it really annoying. It has been annoying me for a while but last night , it got on my nerve big time. The girl actually was touching my stuff , messing my bag, not just looking in. The machines at least do not expose your private stuff, they will only beep/detect things that are potentially "harmful", no? And I made a decision, I will no longer tolerate this in silence.(in my own mind, crowds are cheering). Why should random people go through our stuff. (Hear hear!) Realistically, I know that I will not change this annoying trend on my own, but at least, I can give each and every security person, a piece of my mind before going through my handbag. Who do they think they are to expose my privacy? (roaring in the crowds) Are you with me? (Yes!) I say , are you with me? (Yes!)
(in my own mind, I am causing change!)

I hate the mere existence of security people at doors; be they official or not.

oh, i know how you feel.me too, i decided that no one,yes NO ONE will look through my bag!!! except for the damn machine. the other day, the girl called after me and i just said NO, u not looking in my bag. nor will i pass through that rusted old metal detector of yours!!! you either do it right, or you just don't do it at all!!!! and what really pisses me off is that they look in the bag or check it out in a silly manner that even suggests that they don't care. so why the hell do you care when i refuse to show u my bag. ughhh plz don't start me with this issue. i could go on for days. thanks for sharing this. i thought i was the only one. hamdullah i'm sane:)

Reflections on tolerance , intelligence and beauty

Tolerance I find it really interesting how many people who claim themselves open-minded , sophisticated , cultured and well-read would use the word "tolerance" to justify socially unacceptable behavior or ideologies. They would claim themselves tolerant to different religious/spiritual views, to taboo topics, eccentric friends ,...etc and even preach the more reserved about tolerating and accepting others. Yet, these very "tolerant" people would not even remotely accept a conservative or religious person. A girl I know , to prove her so-called tolerance would always preach "Guys, you should always be more tolerant. Take things easier. The world is very diverse and we should learn to accept each other. For one, I learned to cope with things; I even lived with a gay flat-mate when I lived in the US and I have friends of all faiths." This same girl, when talking to me about my own brother would still say "I can't stand how those so called religious...

Privacy Issues

Last night, I was having dinner with the OC gang when Mardini decided to pop the question that everyone seems to be talking about these days, "who would you vote for in the presidential elections?". When it was my turn to answer I said "I don't share my political opinions" which apparently threw some  off balance. Meyo and Zei understood perfectly well and gave me acknowledging looks that they respect my "no share" zone. Toulan on the other hand, at first, gave me the raised eyebrow for a minute then said "Ya zeww, ya3ni you share everything but don't share your political opinions". Naturally, he was referring to this blog. The thing is, everyone has some issues they consider private, yes, even me! Maybe to you readers, it's  natural to assume one's romantic life is private or that one's thoughts and feelings are private. For me honestly, these are not an issue. I mean, privacy, like everything else, is relative! To me, 3 ...
