Embaressing and flattering

"It's really nice to meet you", he says to her as he picks his car keys and wallet from the table in front of him, then he stands up , smiles and says "Goodbye everyone". People greet him back and he starts walking towards the door. "Hold on a minute", she says as she picks up her handbag , "I have to leave ,too. Why don't you walk me to my car?!" "My pleasure." "Bye guys", she says as she walks out the door," see you Sunday!" "Mohammed", she says, clearly looking a bit nervous, starts to speak , no words come out of her mouth and she sighs.. nervously. "Yes?"he replies, confused by her confusion. "I know this will sound strange, but.. But hear me out.. ok?" "Sure" and he nods "So , as it happens is it cynical world of ours, we have everyone and everything in common but we never met, so.." "But", he tries to interrupt "Please don't interrup

Random drafts

Below are a number of random drafts that I wrote down with the intention of completing at some point but never did. I quickly edited them and posted them here. Ramadan Effect Peace and calmness are the first effects of Tarawee7. Like a long lost friend that one's really happy to meet. But with Ramadan, comes a lot of annoying commitments, like routine family gatherings and headaches. I enjoy experimenting with new recipes and it makes my day when I find that people actually like them. I hate the Ramadan traffic, especially this year that work is so far from home. I'm looking forward to going to "El Leila el Kebeera" in wekalet el ghory, an annual tradition I started a couple of Ramadan's ago. I feel extatic seeing the "fanous" shops with all those colorful designs; so I changed my status name on facebook to "Yasmine is a glittery fanous on a starry Ramadan night!". It feels quite festive. My newest Ramadan trends...gym after Tarawee7.. how coo

Bad hair day!

Warning: this post might appear to be a bit too girlie than most of my other posts. I generally hate coiffures/hair dressers/hair stylists/ beauticians or whatever else they prefer to call themselves. Actually, hate is not very relevant. Using detest, abhor or loathe will be more likely. It's one of the things I keep delaying and delaying hoping that the need will go away. Just like an annual checkup or a dentist's appointment. See I can't remember having my hair trimmed and going home happy that they have trimmed the exact length I wanted. I never had it cut and was proud of the new look. Or changing the color at the salon and feeling fulfilled. I resorted to not having my hair cut, nor trimmed and to using home coloring techniques for a while. But then an occasional henna night or a girlie night so I fall under the social pressure to have my hair styled. Even then, styling always leave feeling unhappy, not so stylish and anticipating the end of the evening so I can go b

Little things

I woke up today and realized that , for no particular reason, I just feel happy and optimistic. You know the little random things that leave us happy and smiling? Many of those little things occurred in summer, and although I usually hate summer, I would say it was this one was pretty good. Let me elaborate: Meeting old friends by chance; Viva facebook. I found, school friends, IBM friends, London friends, ITWorx friends and even my primary school teacher! Reading a good book. Well this summer I read several, "The city of dreaming books", "Witch of Portobello", "Taxi", re-read "Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy", and finally the amazing "The curious incident of a dog in the nighttime" Finding something I thought I lost; well first, I found my smile again and my belief in fairytales. I found a CD of mp3s and photos that I thought I lost. Getting introduced to someone interesting ; I met so many interesting people. Some I heard of before,
