I've been dying to see them ever since I was in London in 2004. They were starting their show perhaps a week or so after I leave back to Cairo so I didn't get the chance. They announced they were coming to Egypt around two months ago and I decided nothing will stop me from going, until I heard that the ticket prices start from 400LE. And that was the point when most the friends, who said they'll come, backed out. Then Meyo had assignments and Jaz had exams and definitely I won't go on my own so I doubted that maybe it just wasn't meant to be. Then Jiji came from the states and expressed interest and we were all set to go for Thursday.
STOMP live in Cairo @ the Opera House.
STOMP live in Cairo @ the Opera House.
For some logistical reasons, we couldn't get tickets on Wednesday, and when we called the Opera House on Thursday they said they ran out of 400 and 600 LE tickets. I was so disappointed cause there was no way I could afford a more expensive ticket. But then Ji did the magic. Tab3an, those who know Ji, they know this girl is capable of almost anything, she managed to pull some strings and got us the 800 le ticket for 600. WOW. And she even got amazing seats! It was such a show; the music, the moves , the performers.. everything was simply breathtaking. You have to see it to beleive it but they made music out of trash cans! And the energy that was floating in the hall was stunning. I left that show thinking I can acheive anything I want, anything at all! Anyway.. search for stomp on youtube to get an idea.
Other than that, it was Asian Food week last week. All through the week I've been having my food with an Asian twist. Then Thursday night after STOMP, we went to Sabai Sabai, a Thai restaurant recommended by the Basha (who actually was nice enough to recommend specific dishes as well). It is a nice place, not as fancy as I thought but not crowded and not expensive, what more would a person want! Friday for lunch, Karim (the bro) suggested lunch at Wagamama which is a Japanese resturant with a modern twist. Again amazing food and not that expensive either. This week doesnt seem Asian though.. bas seems exciting... or is it that I'm just excited about November still. Don't know.. I'm loving this mood and hope it lasts for as long as possible.. w 2adeena 2a3deen w hanshoof!
