Warning, as per the title, its a girly post!
The other day, I had an event coming up, and since I was having a bad *ehm* weight *ehm* day so I decided since I won't look good , I might as well look stylish or something ( a feeling that I lost a while back). But, nail polish was never my strong point, never was good at applying it but I said what the hell, I might as well try.
So, I pick a color; bold red, from my sisters comprehensive collection and start applying. To my surprise, I actually applied 2 coats without smudging my fingers , not even my right pointing finer.. a miracle! I even resisted the temptation to answer emails, hold my phone or the laptop. I stand up, hold the bottle to take it back to my sister's room. I swear I have no idea how that happened, but the bottle fell from my hand broke on the floor and splashed RED all over. I would like to note that we have a white marble floor and a white leather sofa which my mum adores! I would also like to note that my family was away during the incident.
So I end up sweeping the floor and sofa with nail polish remover, after clearing the broken glass, which , knowing my luck, naturally resulted in my pretty red nails smudged and several of my fingers cut by the glass (and i wont even begin to describe the pain you get from mixing nail polish remover with glass cuts). I spent at least an hour cleaning the mess then for a weird and unknown reason, I decided to give it another go. Picked another shade of red (yes my sister has at least 5 different shades of red) and applied it. The Application was not as smooth but it had to do. I was running late.
Anyway, I reach the event. I enter a room filled with people, where I don't know one single person, and start a conversation with the first person who smiles at me and hope to find something to say. 30 mins later, those 2 wonderful women , who smiled, are sharing dinner table with me and after talking about the weather, food and situation in Egypt, I get a compliment about the color of my nail polish! Yes! Triumph at last. Who knew that my miserable nail polish incident will be a good icebreaker. And as of that day, I decided to never neglect nail polish at important events :)
