Friendly Reminder

In business, sometimes you're forced to send someone a "friendly reminder" to pay their invoice or collect their stuff or send you the missing information. Anything of that sort. Because, I'm the kind of person that tries to practice what I preach, I took my business practice into my personal life. Sometimes I even feel I'm treating my life like a huge business project, but that's a story for another day.

Remember, I was saying that something good is happening in my life? I have a reason for happiness, unexplainable and undefinable, but to which I am grateful and content. But, I know its temporary. Why? Because, life has taught me that all good things are. And the problem is, when good things end, it really hurts, right?

I figured that the problem with happy days, is that one gets involved and forgets that they are temporary. We take the good days for granted. So, I came up with the plan.. not perfect, but hopefully it will work. When I see myself giggling at a happy thought, I just remind myself "it will not last", "it's not your moment to enjoy", "it's not your right", and so forth. The moment I remember, I get this annoying pain in my gut. You know that tiny pain that makes your stomach twitch and eyes fill with tears but not enough to cry? Yes, that one! It's a tiny reminder of what "hurt" feels like when we take something for granted. Once a day, is usually good. To be honest, I occasionally let myself enjoy a good day without a reminder. Anyway, I'm not a sadist nor a nekadeya, I'd like to see myself as an investor. I'm putting in a little annoying thought now, so that when real "hurt" comes, I'm prepared to deal with it.

How do you prepare yourself? Just our of curiosity?

Nothing. I decided to live the feeling whatever good or bad to the full. That's life and I'm OK to live it this way, as long as I won't stay with a "null" feeling..

I explained it a week ago here:

this is why Egyptians laugh and say "kheir allahoma eg3alo kheir", they can never enjoy the moment without that "un"friendly reminder. I would say enjoy the moment.

so why rush it?
